Getting Ready for Christmas!

This is such a fun and exciting time of year! The kids are at a great age this year to enjoy all the holiday excitement. I'm so excited to see them open up all their presents. They did a great job decorating the tree. Here are some pictures and video of it.

Ok, so that's not really all of our presents around the tree. I photoshopped them on there to look like that. They are our presents but the ones in front are actually the towers of presents copied and rotated 90 degrees to look like lots of presents.

Caleb's 1st Day of School!

Today is Wednesday, August 20th, 2008 and it was Caleb's very first day of K4 at Bethel Life School. He was very excited to go and he had a great first day. I think he is going to learn a lot this year and it will be a great experience for him.

As for me of course it was a very emotional time as I am having to let go of my very 1st born child who I have been very close to these past 4 years. It wouldn't be so hard but you easily realize how fast they grow up. And of course once they start school you know that time is just going to keep on going and they aren't going to be babies for much longer at all. It's sad! But it's also very happy. I'm very excited and happy for Caleb as he will be learning new things and growing in a new way.

Caleb's teachers name is Mrs. Miller. He seems to already like her real well. I think she will enjoy Caleb a lot too!! Of course i'm biased:) He has 11 students in his class. Only 4 are boys. He says there are too many girls and they need more boys! There are 2 Calebs and 2 Olivias. He only goes half a day for 3 hours, 8:20-11:30.

Caleb's K-4 Daily Schedule:
8:20-8:40 Rug Time
8:40-9:00 Bible
9:00-9:30 RR/Phonics
9:30-9:50 Snack
9:50-10:10 Math
10:10-10:50 Specialty Class (pe,music,library)
10:50-11:10 Recess/Art/Language Dev.
11:10-11:30 Clean-Up/Pack-Up
Wednesday the schedule slightly differs due to Chapel

Road Trip!!!

We planned a road trip on Friday May 30, 2008 to Topeka, Kansas. The weekend of the NHRA O'reilly Summer Nationals at Heartland Park in Topeka. We knew the races would be loud for the kids but we thought Caleb would enjoy watching the fast race cars. He liked it but after the vacation was all over Caleb said "I don't want to go to the races." So in the near future we will try to plan something a little more kid fun or kid friendly. We had earplugs and children sized earmuffs for the kids. I think they worked pretty well because they didn't seem to be bothered by the noise...and it was LOUD. The sun was very hot though and that made them uncomfortable and sweaty. Every once in a while we would get brief cloud coverage and it made it feel a lot more bearable but that never lasted long. We stayed for the first round of races and decided to leave before the second round. I was a little disappointed because I didn't get to take any pictures in the pit area. It was just way too crowded this time. We didn't spend hardly anytime back there. It's normally a cool thing because you get to see the crews working on all the race cars before their next round. All their big trailers are back there. And the racers are back there also. I was hoping to get a picture with Ashley Force or John Force but too hot, too crowded. Oh well maybe next time.

It was nice to get away for a weekend. It went a lot faster then we had hoped. I always enjoy staying in a hotel and so do the kids! We mainly stayed at the hotel and relaxed the whole time we were there. I guess we figured there isn't a whole lot to do in Topeka. We arrived early Friday afternoon. We walked past the capital building while picking up a birth certificate. I didn't even feel the need to take a picture...okay maybe it was because there was major construction being done on it. When we got back to the hotel we went swimming. The water was cold! We had the pool to ourselves so that was nice. That evening we went out to dinner at Longhorn. Saturday we went to the races. We were exhausted from the walking and from the sun. We didn't do anything else that day but take naps and hang out in our room. Sunday we packed it up and headed home! We were able to make it home and watch Sunday's final races on ESPN2. I was thrilled to see John Force win it all. His first win since his accident in Dallas. Yay! As Caleb would say, "John Force he's my favorite!"

2008 Easter Scrapbook

Time to add something on here.....

I'm obviously terrible about keeping up with things on this site. Oh how I would love to keep a daily life journal on here! So far that's not going to happen. I would love to be that person though :)

Not much to report at the moment. Mostly just looking forward to leaving winter in the past and enjoying nice days to come outdoors. Yesterday I took the kids to a free day at the zoo in honor of earth day. Jenna and Brody came along and we had a good time. A lot of my pictures came out blurry that were of the kids so that makes me mad. But I got a few ok ones. I plan to make some more visits to the zoo this year so maybe I can try to work on capturing some good pictures.
